Spine Flexibility Stretches

Fitness and Exercise

It is hard for some people to start a regular exercise routine. Just trying to fit it into a busy schedule can seem overwhelming. The thought of pushing the body until the heart rate goes up and sweat starts pouring down the body may seem so overwhelming that the thoughts are pushed aside until there is a better time to deal with the whole thing. The thought can be even more dreaded when a person is suffering the effects of a condition that causes fatigue or even pain.
The good news is that you can start your exercise program with simple exercises that give the benefits of strengthening and conditioning as you work up to a regular exercise regime for fitness. The most important step is to get up out of the chair and just start.
Get out into the neighborhood and enjoy the fresh air with a daily stroll. Gradually step up the distance and the pace until you have reached a reasonable goal. You'll find that you are gradually building up stamina and may soon discover that you are ready for a more vigorous exercise routine.
If joint or muscle pain prevents you from walking, start conditioning your body in water. The buoyancy will reduce gravity, making it easier to move the limbs. The water will help with your balance. The resistance of the water will help you tone your muscles with every movement. Even stretching out in a pool can increases flexibility. Many people find that just being in the water is soothing and the benefits can be relaxations of the muscles so that they can heal or the easing of anxiety.
Regular exercise goes a long way in reducing the anxiety that a person feels when they are first diagnosed with an illness. A diagnose of cancer, including mesothelioma, can be overwhelming at first as the patient addresses the unknown factors of treatment. Fitness and exercise are things that don't seem a priority until the person realizes that the stronger the body is, the better it will respond to treatment and the recovery process.
The way that the body is perceived goes a long way in the emotional health of people who are fighting disease as well as the fairly healthy person. A nicely toned body that is showing improvement makes a person feel better and more able to meet the challenges that life brings their way.
The National Cancer Institute promotes guidelines for exercise that take individual health challenges as well as effects from treatment into consideration in a bulletin entitled Guidelines Urge Exercise for Cancer Patients, Survivors.
Quality of life is improved by attention to fitness and exercise. Before making changes to a lifestyle, make sure that you are helping your condition instead of hindering it by discussing it with your medical care provider
